In this episode of the Niche Blogging Tips Podcast, we're going to talk about seven myths about making money blogging, you probably believe, stay tuned.

Welcome to the Niche Blogging Tips Podcast where we help you start and grow a successful blog. And now your host, Andre Vaughn.

We put together a resource page for a lot of the things that we don't talk about in our episodes, make sure you check that out as things such as ebooks, audio books, which are for sale. Also, it has things with different affiliate links, that helps us pay the bill. So make sure you check this out. It's that nichebloggingtips.com/resources, that's nichebloggingtips.com/resources.

Making money blogging is a topic, it's a pretty hot topic, in the world of blog, and we all want to make money from our blog, as you know, is probably why you're one of the reasons why you listening to this podcast, we all want to do it. But there's a, there's a lot of misconceptions that go on about blogging, about really a lot of the different aspects of blogging, or of making money blogging, I should say, and I'm gonna get right into it, I have Seven Myths. And we have a couple of we have a couple of more that that we're going to tell you all. So that's at the end of the episode. So make sure you listen to all of this.

The first one we're going to talk about is, the first myth is it takes a lot of money to get started blogging, if you want to simplify, it really doesn't take a lot of money whatsoever, you can get by with about $10 a month are less, I will say $10 a month, using a lot of the different I guess a lot of the different hosting companies. And that's going to need you're going to need a domain, which is the WW dot your name of your blog.com. And you're going to need hosting which hosts all your files, which host your blog, really can't really can't start a blog without it. Unless you're using a you know a site that that will host for you. And we really don't recommend those who wants to use a self hosted site. And the platform we use is WordPress, it does not take a lot of money to get started.

Now, you do have some extras that you might want to add later on, you know as your blog grow, or what have you. Or if you have the funds to do it, this shouldn't be a problem. And next thing such as, you know, maybe you want to awesome theme for your blog, you know, different plugins for your blog, things such as an email service, things such as opt in Monster, just just different, different different things that may cause that may have an added cost to your blog. But if you're just starting off and just writing, it takes about $10 a month in them now you might have to have some a more of upfront fee. Because sometimes, you know, when purchasing a domain, they want you to pay a little extra upfront maybe a whole year or six months or what have you. But like on a month to month basis, you shouldn't pay no more or you could get by with just paying around $10 or under $10 a month. So that's the first myth.

The second myth is this. I'm going to go in on this one. It's a scam making money blogging is a scam. Everything that you do is going to be a quote unquote scam to someone else or everything. Or anytime you're talking about making money or or maybe even enhancing your life. In some capacity. Someone is always going to look at it as a scam. If you work your tail off in anything, and I'm sure you've worked your tail off in something, something that you did somewhere along the line in your life, it may not be blogging, it may be something very simple but you got the job done. Was it a scam? You got the results of whatever the work that you put in? Was it a scam people gonna call anything a scam. It's not a scam making money blogging is not a scam. These companies will pay you if you get traffic to your blog, you're going to have an opportunity to make money. Whether you're using you know, if you're selling your own products or no matter how you're monetizing your blog, you're going to make money if you get some traffic especially if the traffic is targeted. It's a scam. Everything is a scam according to people is especially if they're not either doing it or if they're not, you know if there's skeptical about it It's always everything is always a scam when skepticism plays a role into just about anything.

Now, the third thing I'm gone to the third myth about making money blogging is you can get rich, quick blogging, you cannot get rich quick blog, I wouldn't even look at it in that term, I wouldn't even use the word rich, if you're new in your blogging journey, don't don't even go about it that way, don't even go about it that way, don't even go about it with that mindset of I'm gonna get rich, your plan should be a lot better than that. Because what happens when you're when you're not going to see results in when you when you don't see results in a particular amount of time you're going to quit, that's the first thing that's going to happen, you're going to quit. So don't think of it in that way. This is think of it as a have a plan, first of all, have a plan and have some sort of reasonable expectations. And I think that's where a lot of people get it wrong get is they don't have reasonable expectations for their blog, the first time that they don't reach certain goals, they get discouraged. And when you get discouraged, what do you do, you quit, you can get rich, quick, blogging is is false. That's that's not gonna happen. Everything takes time. So especially if you're using, if you're dependent on Google, and, you know, SEO, search engine optimization, if you're, if you're writing quality content, it's gonna take time, just keep writing those articles, keep writing those articles. So you can attain traffic to your blog targeted traffic to your blog.

The fourth myth about making money blogging is blogging for money doesn't work. That's almost like I was talking about with it being a scam, it doesn't work. It's not going to work. If you don't put in the work. It's not going to work. If you don't put in the work. It's as simple as that. There's too many people that have shown results of this, don't get discouraged. And just just don't think it doesn't work, because it does work. But you you have to put in the work to put in more usually people that say that, first of all, you look at what type of niche that they're in, that they're writing about. And then you see how many articles Have they written? And then you see what type of content that they have? Is it adequate? Is it targeted? You'll hear me say that a lot is it targeted. So if it's not adequate, it's not targeted? Usually those that that's, that's the way you're going to hear the complaints from the people that are not putting in the work.

The fifth myth about making money blogging is every blogger makes money. Obviously, that isn't true. Every blogger doesn't make money. Everybody don't even, there's a lot of people that write that doesn't even have that. They don't even have that mindset of the purpose of writing is not to get paid. It's the effort that I spoke about previously, that you need and the right topics. If you don't have the right topics, you're not going to see anything, you're not gonna see any results. But it's that it's that consistency, that effort and consistency that you need more than anything else.

Number six of the myths about making money blogging is you should only use AdSense. If you don't know Google, AdSense is Google's ad network, where creators can make money. If you are a blogger, and the only thing that you're doing is dependent on google adsense, you are going to get discouraged quick, you're gonna get discouraged very quickly. Now you have some people that do well with Google AdSense, but there are so many other ways to make money blogging, and there are so many other ad networks out there that pay better than Google AdSense, also just do your research that in terms of you know, just Google something such as alternatives to Google assets, you know, and you'll see you'll find those those different ad companies also you have things such as you have affiliate marketing, other affiliate marketing networks, you know, networks such as ShareASale impact. There's so many of them Commission Junction. There are so many I'm just Clickbank I'm just putting a putting a few, a few out there. But there's so many. You have ad networks like media vine, you have so many other things that you can do to monetize your blog don't just depend on AdSense that it's crazy for you to do so. All right. I have the numbers seventh myth that I have some bonuses for you after this also a few bonus myths.

The seventh myth about making money blogging is you need to create your own products ASAP. Alright, first of all, you really don't need to create your own products at all if you don't want to. So you can, you can monetize your blog so many other ways. But if you want to maximize it, it's not a bad idea to maybe at some some point of time to create your own products, because you control that. So the more control you have, the better. And that's what you want. But you don't need to create your own products, and you don't need to create your own products fast. You know, like soon as you start your blog, you need to hurry up and create a product you don't, you don't have to do it, you don't have to do it like that. So many ways you can do it. But you don't have to do it in that way. So shouldn't have all that pressure on you into creating your own products or services.

Alright, bonus time. I these are few of the bonus minutes. The first one I have is have a written down here you have two posts daily, you don't have to post a daily, you shouldn't. You can post daily, if you like, but you don't have to. That's a big myth. That should be part of your plan. When you are writing a blog, part of Your plan should be how often do you want to post? You know, how many articles do you want to do you want to post now, you can post blogging is a little different than something like a YouTube channel where as I say, if you had 50 articles, and you had 50 videos, you could actually post those 50 articles all in that same day. Or if you had 100 will say 100 articles and 100 videos, if you had 100 articles, if you had 100 articles, you it's perfectly okay to press that button in WordPress, that publish button on all 100 of them, as opposed to 100 videos on YouTube because the algorithm is funky, the algorithm and YouTube are gonna look, they're gonna look at that content like what you know, you're not going to get traffic to that. Here's the difference with those 100 articles, you can look up in six months after putting those 100 articles up. And you will start seeing massive traffic, the output of Google the Google algorithm is way different than the YouTube algorithm. I don't care if they're the same company. They're different. It's way, way, way, way different. So you don't have to put out daily content. But in saying all of that, even if you put those 100 articles out there, you still can put up an article every week after that, after you put the 100 articles up there. I'm just kind of throwing it out there. Even without the 100 articles, you could post weekly, you can post an article weekly, that won't hurt you at all that would only help you. Alright, another myth in our bonus segment is the number of visitors is not the most important statistic a lot of times we get caught in numbers. Throwing throwing an example, if you have 50,000 visitors to your blog, or let me let me throw it to you like this. Let me give it to you like this. Would you rather have 50,000 visitors to your blog, or 5000 visitors to your blog, a lot of people will say 50,000 visitors? I'll go back to a word that I've used a few times in this episode. What about targeted visitors? What if those 50,000 visitors aren't targeted, but those 5000 visitors are targeted, you're gonna see results, you're gonna see more results with those 5000 visitors as opposed to 50,000 visitors so solid about targeted so the number of visitors is not the most important stat unless they're targeted. Another myth is email marketing isn't important anymore. And that's that's that's false. I will say that's false. Email marketing is important. Now do you need email marketing? No, let's say if you putting together niche sites or what have you, and it's just really all about is this really all about visitors coming to the blog and you know, reading the content or whatever and they're purchasing something right there. They're clicking on some and making a purchase. But why not maximize that blog by you know, enticing those visitors to you know, to sign up for free mini course or a free ebook or what have you. And then lead on you nurture those email those people you have on the email list and you know, later on you can possibly sell them something. Email marketing is important if you want to maximize As it but it's not important. If you're doing something like niche sites where you're not really worried about that, or in the very beginning, it's really not that important, you can always circle back to these things, you can always circle back to email more than I would definitely circle back to email marketing. All right, one of the last things we're going to talk about, that I have is maybe for some, actually, that was for email marketing, when I said, email marketing is maybe, maybe, you know, for some, but you know, you're leaving money on the table. Okay, this is the last one, why not fully maximize your blog, if you have the means to do so. And what I mean by that, not just with email marketing, but with certain tools that you might need for your blog. This is only for the people that have the resources to maximize their blog, by getting the best not not necessarily the you know, the best in terms of, you know, you got to spend a whole lot of money to get these different tools, things such as OptinMonster things such as nicer themes, such as Elementor, or Astra or something like that, maybe you want the best, maybe you want a different hosting service, like Kinsta, some, you know, some better than Bluehost at the time, or HostGator or anything like that, maximizing your blog, maybe you want to hire, you have the funds to hire a writer, you know, so you can free up some of your time and put your time into doing things that maximize your blog. I'm all for that. Maximizing Your, your blog, the best that you can, but these seven are more minutes more more like 10 minutes, but we'll just call them seven about making money blog. And you, you really should, you really should pay attention to those minutes. But a lot of these, you're not gonna it's not gonna actually hit you into your face a lot of these things. But, you know, this will help a lot of you, and probably maybe some questions that you had about making money blogging, and that's a good thing.
